As a licensed mental health professional, I am serious about providing the highest quality evidence based care available. I was trained in Behavioral Health Consultation at Swedish Medical Group in Seattle by psychologist Dr. Jeff Reiter, who is a pioneer of the approach and literally wrote the book on it. While this approach has origins in primary care, I have found it to be extremely effective in addressing challenges in any number of settings. My use of this approach relies heavily on my intensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other evidence based behavioral therapies. The Psychological Flexibility Model is a powerful, values based, approach that I find resonates with healthcare professionals. I honed this consultation model during the crucible of Covid-19 with physicians, nurses, and other leaders who were on the front lines of that prolonged crisis. I use my own rich experiences as a healthcare leader to layer in a perspective that understands the pressures of working in our modern medical system.

This approach is different than traditional psychotherapy or coaching. Some clients I see only once, some I see frequently until their issues resolve, others I help until we can secure appropriate referral to specialty care. Scheduling with me does not enroll you in a lengthy program or requirement to share every issue from your childhood or even present life. My goal is to help you find your footing, give you some new tools, and help you re-engage with what has helped in the past. I provide accountability and empathetic support.

I am well versed in the DSM, and am glad to explore possible diagnoses with you, but our work together does not require me assigning you a diagnosis. As a Behavioral Health Clinician, I have significant experience with a wide variety of mental health and substance misuse related challenges. It’s not my first rodeo. If you are overwhelmed by your own responses to intense emotional states, I am here to help you chart a new path forward.

Psychologist Carl Rogers coined the term, Unconditional Positive Regard, but he has written that he learned the approach from clinical social workers. It is very important to me that people feel safe to share whatever is on their mind and heart, without fear of judgement. Core to my values is being an ally to ALL people. I look forward to hearing your story.
